The 2nd annual UK Open (IATF Grand Slam) is coming summer 2024!
You’re invited to join us and throwers from across the world to compete in the 2nd annual UK open at Valhalla North Axe Throwing on the weekend of August 16th-18th 2024.

Friday’s events –
– Early AM we’re hosting a social throw to catch up with you all as only seeing you all a couple of times a year just ain’t enough!
– Friday morning is Doubles! Classic double elimination format!
– Friday PM – THE FIRST ANNUAL SHIELDMAIDEN SLAM!!
(Double elimination – premier rules)
No Grandslam tournament on the circuit has a dedicated ladies tournament, well, not anymore!!
Kat and Sasha (yes, that Sasha) have made it happen!
What’s more is, the winner of the Shieldmaiden slam will also receive a Round 2 bid to IATC along with guaranteed IATC ladies tournament spots for places 2-4!
Winner will also receive free entry into the UK OPEN 2025.

– Saturday daytime will be the IATF Grand Slam Tournament (Premier rules & double elimination).
Top 4 receive IATC round 2 bids.
Winner will also receive free entry into the UK OPEN 2025.
– Followed by an 0-2 tournament for those who are out in 2 games in the main tournament.
– Saturday daytime will be the IATF Grand Slam Tournament (Premier rules & double elimination).

Saturday evening we’ll be celebrating, with catering on site from Knead A Slice, Beers, Axe Market, Live Music and lots of fun!
Sunday’s events-
– Sunday AM we’re running an U65 average tournament (based on 12 month average) with the winner receiving a reserved spot at IATC U65 or corresponding tournament.
– Sunday PM sees the return of our 6×6 skills tournament! 6 disciplines, top 6 take points relative to finish position, most points takes the day!
We’re going for maximum chaos this year, every skill will involve multiple throwers on each team!
We’re also putting on a team event based on the WWE war games match!
The top finishers in the tournaments will be reserved spots in a corresponding tournament hosted at the IATC 2025.

Finishing in the top 4 at a Grand Slam’s marquee tournament will reserve these players a spot in Round 2 of the Wilson Cup, securing a place as one of the final 256 competitors.
Winning one of the Grand Slam’s supporting tournaments will reserve the 1st place finisher a spot in a comparable tournament at the IATC (i.e. a tournament for intermediate players would reserve a spot in a tournament at the IATC similar to 2023’s Under 65 tournament).

As well as spots at IATC, winners will receive cash prizes, trophies and the winners of the main Grand Slam Double Elimination Tournament AND the Shieldmaiden Slam will take home the UK OPEN 2024 & SHIELDMAIDEN SLAM custom title belts!
